  • The paper currency exhibition presents the history of paper money as fiduciary Portuguese heritage in order to preserve the testimonies of the economic, social and cultural development of Portugal. The spoils are part of the whole Portuguese emissions of notes, the existence of three dozen unique notes. There are still part of the collection other types of fiduciary paper like stocks, checks, insurance policies, stamp-impressed paper, lottery tickets, letter of debts and certificates.

    HISTORY
    The early history of the Museum of paper currency dates back to 1981, when the Board of Directors of the Foundation Antonio Cupertino de Miranda approved unanimously, the suggestion of Dr. Alberto Correia de Almeida to create a collection of fiduciary paper. 
    The Museum opened in 1996 with the permanent exhibition of paper currency. In 2003 opened a new permanent exhibition, in which, it addresses the relationship between money and transportation.
